The mold's name is a tribute to his late father, who worked as an avionics engineer at Honeywell Aerospace. In aerospace terminology, "apogee" refers to the exact point where an orbiting object reaches its maximum distance from Earth. When Climo set out to design a tool that could deliver one specific result—absolute maximum distance—the name was a perfect fit.

Explore Other Climo Disc Golf Drivers

Looking to build out your Climo lineup? Ken Climo chose the name to honor his late father, who worked as an avionics engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, perfectly representing the disc's goal of achieving absolute maximum distance.

Is the Climo Apogee a good distance driver for beginners?

While a 12-speed driver with a 2.4 cm rim typically requires significant arm speed, the Apogee's understable nature (-2 turn, 1 fade) makes it much more accessible than standard overstable bombers. It is a fantastic choice for intermediate players looking to step up to their first true maximum distance driver and achieve full S-curve flights.

How does the Apogee compare to the Skyway?

The Apogee is designed to be the faster, longer counterpart to the Skyway. While the Skyway is an 11-speed driver that focuses heavily on control, the Apogee turns the speed up to 12, demanding slightly more power but rewarding the thrower with a wider, further-pushing flight path.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0643/6578/9426/files/climo-disc-golf-apogee-pre-order-champion-mint-white-175-2g-1-cc7f6ac4.jpg?v=1791238452
