MVP / Axiom / Streamline (Eclipse)
The Verdict: MVP's Eclipse plastic remains the undisputed reigning champion of the glow world—specifically their standard green glow. It achieves a blindingly bright initial pop and possesses unmatched longevity, often remaining easily visible for over 30 minutes after a single UV charge.
Availability: Unlike competitors who reserve good glow plastic for limited drops, MVP regularly runs a massive variety of popular stock molds (like the Axiom Hex and Proxy) in Eclipse plastic. If you want the most accessible, brightest plastic, look no further than MVP, Axiom, and Streamline.
A Tier: The Elite Challengers
Innova (Proto Glow)
Innova completely overhauled their previously lackluster formula to create Proto Glow. Available in both DX and premium Champion blends, this modernized formula goes neck-and-neck with MVP for initial brightness and holds a charge beautifully. Best of all, it is widely accessible in stock runs of classic molds.
Discraft (Mega Glo)
Discraft's Mega Glo is a massive upgrade over their older "Z Glo" or "Super Glo." In scientific brightness testing, Mega Glo matches MVP's intensity and even outlasts Innova's Proto Glow. The only catch is scarcity—Discraft rarely offers Mega Glo as a stock option, reserving it mostly for limited Ledgestone or seasonal holiday drops.
Meridian Discs (Hyalite)
Hailing right here from Texas, Meridian Discs introduced their Hyalite glow plastic, and it is a certified A-Tier contender. It is currently only offered in two molds—the Current and the Ravine—but the luminous performance is highly impressive.
B Tier: The Upper Echelon
Mint Discs & Thought Space Athletics (Nocturnal / Glow)
Because these smaller brands have their premium plastic manufactured by MVP Disc Sports, Mint Discs and Thought Space Athletics inherit much of that high-performing luminous chemistry. To get the best results, look for the Nocturnal or traditional-looking glow plastic, and avoid their white-colored glow variants.
Kastaplast (K1 Glow)
Prior to 2022, Kastaplast was easily an S-Tier glow brand. After redoing their glow formula, they dropped slightly to a solid B+. However, K1 Glow remains highly coveted because it is soft, incredibly grippy, and perfectly suited for wet or freezing nighttime conditions.
C Tier: The Passable Standard
Trilogy (Moonshine) & Discmania
Modern Moonshine runs from Latitude 64, Dynamic Discs, and Westside, along with Discmania's glow, are fully competent but require more maintenance. They provide a good initial pop but generally require charging every single hole. Pro Tip for Trilogy: The pure white plastic Moonshine runs hold a pristine glow, whereas their colored glow variants (pink, blue, purple) tend to fade much faster.
F Tier: The Utility/Putter Class
Prodigy, Infinite (Old Innova Glow), & Prodigy-Made Mint
These blends are quick to illuminate under a flashlight, but they completely fade out before you even walk to your lie. While the plastic feels premium in the hand, the brightness drops significantly within 2 to 3 minutes of throwing.
