In 2026 Armory Disc Golf will be bringing you the fourth season of the premier disc golf tour in Texas - Throwing Down the Gauntlet, sponsored by MVP Disc Sports. This year-long season will have tournaments from flex starts to 2 day B Tiers across the state in which you will earn points (and fat stacks of payout) based on your performance. At the end of the season, the top point earners (alongside Gold/Platinum Tier winners) will earn a place in the Invitational Championship, where you'll compete for over $10,000 added in cash + prizes added cash and prizes!
CHOOSE YOUR SIDE.
In addition to playing for yourself individually you will also choose one of three "factions" to represent, with your performance earning points for your chosen side throughout the year. Choose your team at registration then lead them to victory!
This is a "for fun" addition to TDTG and does not affect your individual points or standings. We DO encourage players to join in on the smack talk and belittlement of any opposing factions throughout the year as we play together
Check out more info on the different factions at the bottom of this page
Whichever faction has the most number of division winners at Gold/Platinum Tier events will receive 750/1500 bonus points. If both factions win the same number of divisions, the tiebreaker will be the MPO winner for that event.
The Tournament Format
Throwing Down the Gauntlet has 4 tournament "tiers". These will be weighted differently for season points standings and Championship bids, but they will each also function independently as standalone tournaments- i.e., eligible players will receive payouts and trophies after each event in addition to the points they earn towards season standings.
Tier Levels
Silver Tier -
These are flex start events that will be hosted several times in each region throughout the season. They are a great way to get rated rounds in while stacking up points towards a regular season championship and an Invitational bid. Your top 7 Silver Tier finishes of the season will count towards your point total, so shake off those bad rounds and work your way to the top! In addition, if you win a division with 5+ players competing that day in 3 different Silver Tier events, you'll get an automatic invite to the Championship 👑
Silver+ Tier -
These are single round shotgun start tournaments with a small player pack and payout available on site at the conclusion of the event. As the name implies, they will fall between Silver and Gold Tiers in terms of points awarded but also in cost. We will host a few of these events in 2025 and take your TOP 2 Silver+ events (as a part of the 7 overall Silver events). Silver+ events will have a 2x point multiplier for season points standings.
Gold Tier -
These are 2 round, 1 day shotgun start events that will be held 2-4 times in each of several different regions in 2026. You will receive a custom player pack from MVP Disc Sports as well as be eligible for several CTPs and mini game prizes as a part of your entry into these events, which we are confident are at the highest tier of tournament value you'll find. In 2026 we count your TOP 3 Gold Tier event finishes towards your season points standings, so if you show up with less than your best at one of them you can replace it later in the season with a better performance. In addition, if you win a Gold Tier event with 5+ players in your division you will earn an automatic invite to the 2026 TDTG Invitational Championship. We look forward to seeing you at the best disc golf courses across the state again this year! Gold Tier events will have a 3x point multiplier for season points standings
Platinum Tier -
These are 2-3 round, 1-2 day shotgun start B Tier events with at least $750 added prizes thrown into the prize pool. You will receive a custom player pack from MVP Disc Sports as well as be eligible for several CTPs and mini game prizes as a part of your entry into these events, which we are confident are at the highest tier of tournament value you'll find. Similar to Gold Tiers, if you win a Platinum Tier event with 5+ players in your division you will earn an automatic invite to the 2026 TDTG Invitational Championship. Platinum Tier events will have a 4x point multiplier for season standings and your TOP 2 Platinum Tier finishes will count towards season standings.
Throwing Down the Gauntlet Points System
- Points are awarded on a tournament by tournament basis
- Players will receive 5 points for each event they play in
- Players will earn 2 additional points for each person in their division that they beat (or tie), up to a maximum of 40 points (20 players) per event. For every player beat after 20 in a single division, 1 point will be awarded. This is to reward those who play well in larger event (particularly flex starts, which by their nature are more variable in attendance)
- Players will earn 5 additional points for winning their division (in which 3 or more players competed) in a particular tournament.
- Silver+ Tier Events will have a 2x point multiplier, Gold Tier events will have a 3x point multiplier and Platinum Tier events will have a 4x point multiplier
- Regular Season Points standings will be posted after each event and champions will be crowned for the top point earners in each division for the season. 👑
Points Examples
- If you play a Silver Tier event in a division with 7 players and place 2nd, you will earn 5 points for playing and 10 points for your placement (for beating 5 other players), for a total of 15 points. If this event were a Gold Tier, you would earn 30 points, in a Platinum Tier you would earn 60 points)
- If you play a Silver Tier event in a division with 7 players and place 1st, you will earn 5 points for playing, 12 points for your placement, and 5 points for winning your division, for a total of 22 points (Gold Tier would be 44 points, Platinum Tier would be 88 points)
-
If you play a Silver Tier event in a division with 28 players and place 3rd, you would earn 5 points for playing and 45 points for your placement (20 x 2 points per player, 5 x 1 point per player), for a total of 50 points. (Gold Tier would be 100 points, Platinum Tier would be 200 points)
End of Season Invitational
For each participant in each tournament across the state and throughout the year, we will set aside cash to distribute towards cash and prize payout at the 2026 Championship. We had over $12,000 added cash and prizes at the Championship, and we will continue to host a similarly amazing event worthy of the champions who earn their spot.
TDTG History, Present, and Future
Last year we had nearly 2000 players join us in these events for over four thousand rounds total, culminating in a championship where we handed out over $10,000 in added cash and prizes. We look forward to making 2026 even better and to continue presenting the absolute best tournament experience possible. As part of our commitment to do so, we have re-upped our agreement with MVP Disc Sports as the title sponsor for TDTG 2026! We're excited to offer the best discs in the game as part of the best tournament series in the game.
This year we are also collaborating with MVP to make a contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital! MVP is providing a huge yearlong raffle prize that you can register for at each individual event, with proceeds going directly towards St. Jude. In addition, we will be contributing a portion of tournament proceeds towards this same end and will present the check to them towards the end of the year. Last year we were able to raise over $3,000 and we're proud to be a part of a community that gives beyond the game.
FACTIONS
Redguard- The Redguard do not seek greatness- they seize it. From their imposing citadels to the stretches of untamed wilds of Vastorum, they are forged by uncompromising standards and an unrelenting pursuit of perfection. To the Redguard, strength is the only true currency, and anything less is unworthy of respect. Compassion is a luxury. Hesitation is a flaw. Victory is the proof of worth.
Their creed is simple: the strong rise and failure is the harsh reminders of what happens when standards aren’t met. Many across Vastorum whisper that the Redguard’s path is ruthless, but the impact of their ambition can’t be denied.
Players drawn to Redguard are those who silence excuses, control their shots and their own outcomes, and push past the limits set by others.
Outlanders- The Outlanders are driven by instinct, adrenaline, and the thrill of the unknown. They blend scavenged tech with elemental force, crafting tools and tactics on the fly to suit their needs. Their enclaves rise in frontier wilds, skyports, and scrapyard cities where invention and chaos coexist. Among them are daredevils, scrappers, and innovators - individuals who turn broken tech into brilliance and pressure into possibility.
Outlanders relish the challenge of the improbable and believe victory belongs to those bold enough to seize it on their own terms. Adaptability is their weapon. Instinct is their compass. Courage is their law.
Players drawn to the Outlanders never back down, invent solutions on the fly, and fight to win through bold instinct and fearless improvisation.
The Covenant- Where others chase force or instinct, the Covenant seeks victory through strategy, technique, and deliberate execution. They study the world’s deeper patterns- its natural laws, hidden harmonies, and inner workings. From their elevated temples and arcane sanctums they see with a clarity invisible to others, then weaponize their knowledge with surgical precision.
The Covenant draws those who seek mastery through insight- duelists who read opponents like open books, scouts who navigate with with practiced understanding, and adepts who shape the flow of conflict with calculated intent.
Players drawn to The Covenant are tacticians, analysts, and disciplined competitors whose desire to win leads to skillful intentionality, not impulse.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
- Unsanctioned Doubles played at Silver Tier events are "for fun" and will not accrue points towards the EOS Invitational, but they will still be eligible for individual event payout
- If players change divisions mid-season, their points will not transfer over to the new division UNLESS they rate out of their previous division OR it is approved by Armory Disc Golf for extenuating circumstances. This means if you want to qualify for the invitational as an MA2 player, you need to play MA2 during the season (for example).
- After MAY, points transferred between divisions WILL NOT COUNT towards consideration for regular season champions. I.e., if you want to compete for a regular season championship and think you might rate to the next division, you should start playing "up" early to get as many points as possible there.
- If you rate out of your division, 50% of your points will move with you. E.g., if you have 200 points in MA4 and hit 851 rating, you will be moved to MA3 with 100 points
- Gold Tier event division winners will only receive an automatic bid to the Invitational if there are at least 3 players in their division (points will still be earned for those divisions even if an automatic bid is not offered).
- You must play in a minimum of 3 Silver Tier events or 1 Gold or Platinum Tier event to receive an invite
***Details including park locations, added cash, and invitational tiers are subject to change throughout the season. We will keep you informed as these changes occur***
