Discraft ESP Sled 3 | 2 | -1 | 2

The Discraft ESP Sled is a straight, low-glide putt and approach disc that drops soft and stays close to the basket. It was the official mold of the 2026 PDGA World Championships, and it's Discraft's first disc with a rolled groove-top thumbtrack, so your thumb has the same spot to lock into on every throw. This is the stock Sled in ESP plastic, Discraft's grippy, durable premium plastic. See every Sled we stock in the Discraft Sled Collection Hub or shop our full approach disc collection.

Flight Numbers

The Sled flies 3 | 2 | -1 | 2. The low glide (2) means it wants to get to the ground quickly, so it won't float past the basket or skip way off the green. Thrown flat, it pushes straight with a little high-speed flip and finishes with a gentle fade instead of a hard dump. Players throwing the ESP Sled say it flies really straight, holds its line in the wind and works great on S-curve approaches, and it starts to fade out around 200 feet when you put more on it. It's 21.6 cm across and 1.7 cm tall with a 1.2 cm rim width and a 1.3 cm rim depth, and it was PDGA approved on January 19, 2026.

Speed Glide Turn Fade
3 2 -1 2

The ESP Sled delivers:

  • Limited Ground Play: The lack of glide creates a predictable, brick-like flight that causes the disc to drop softly and sit right next to the basket.
  • Point-and-Shoot Accuracy: The slight -1 turn allows the disc to pop up straight, making it perfect for threading tight wooded gaps on approach.
  • Grip You Can Count On: ESP plastic grips better than Z Line and holds up to tree hits, so it feels and flies the same round after round.

It excels at:

  • Straight upshots that need to stop next to the basket
  • Touch forehands and flicks around the green
  • Threading tight wooded gaps on approach
  • Fast or dangerous greens where you can't afford to sail long

The Rolled Groove-Top Thumbtrack

The Sled introduces a brand-new design element to the Discraft lineup: the rolled groove-top thumbtrack. The top shoulder of the disc features a concave groove that gives your thumb an incredibly secure, immediate tactile reference point. This unique texture ensures maximum leverage and grip security for clean backhand releases and precise sidearms. Underneath, the lower wing and nose remain smooth and rounded, providing a very comfortable in-hand feel reminiscent of classic Discraft putters like the Luna or Roach.

The ESP Plastic Advantage

ESP is Discraft's premium opaque plastic. It's just as durable as Z Line plastic but has more grip in the hand, with a slightly tacky feel that holds on better when it's cold or damp out. It also holds its flight for a long time, so your ESP Sled will keep flying that same straight, soft-landing line season after season. ESP runs come in bright solid colors and sometimes swirls, so check each option and pick your exact disc right on this page.

How the Sled Fits in the Discraft Lineup

  • Vs the Z Line Sled: Same mold and flight numbers. The highly translucent, ultra-durable flagship stock blend that provides a firm grip and a clean release.
  • Vs the Mega Glo Sled: Same mold and flight numbers. Molded in premium glow-in-the-dark plastic for high visibility during night rounds.
  • Vs the CryZtal FLX Sled: Same mold and flight numbers. A gorgeous, transparent premium blend with a gummy, flexible feel designed to absorb impacts and stick to the green.
  • Vs the Special Blend Sled: Same mold and flight numbers. A celebratory Special Blend plastic with visual fusions like Ti Big Z, for premium looks and great durability.
  • Vs the Kitchen Sink Ultra-Sled: Same flight numbers with flight rings on top. The Sled with UltraStar-style flight rings engraved on top, in a Kitchen Sink mix of Discraft plastics where no two discs look or feel quite the same.
  • Vs the Discraft Luna: The Luna (3 | 3 | 0 | 3) is Discraft's go-to putter. The Sled has the same kind of rounded, comfortable wing underneath, but adds the rolled thumbtrack and less glide, so it's built more for approaches than putting.
  • Vs the Discraft Zone: The Zone (4 | 3 | 0 | 3) is Discraft's overstable approach disc. It has a little more glide and a lot more fade, so it's perfect for wind and hard forehands. The Sled excels in straight upshots that drop soft.
  • Vs the Kastaplast Berg: The Sled has a Berg-like ridged top with a Luna-style rim underneath. It's faster and more stable than the Berg (1 | 1 | 0 | 2), so it holds a line better on longer approaches.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Discraft ESP Sled

What does the rolled thumbtrack do?

The rolled groove-top thumbtrack removes the dome from the disc, significantly reducing its natural glide. Aerodynamically, this ensures the disc falls out of the air quickly. Ergonomically, it provides a consistent, secure resting place for your thumb to lock into before every throw.

Is the ESP Sled an overstable approach disc?

Unlike really overstable approach discs like the Zone, the Sled is much straighter. It features a slight high-speed turn (-1) and a gentle low-speed fade (2). This makes it highly shapeable for straight point-and-shoot shots, soft anhyzers, and touch flicks that settle softly without huge skips.

Should I get the Sled in ESP or Z Line?

Both are durable premium plastics, and the Sled flies the same in both. Z Line is firm and translucent with a clean release. ESP is opaque and has more grip, so it's the better pick if you like a tacky feel or play a lot in cold or wet weather.
