What is an MVP Lab Second?

In the disc golf world, a "Lab Second" is just MVP's version of a factory second. When MVP is running batches of discs, sometimes a few come out with minor cosmetic imperfections. It might be a dropout in the foil stamp, a speck of different colored plastic mixed into the rim, or a slight scuff from the factory floor. Because they don't look 100% perfect, they get stamped with the classic "Lab Second" logo and sold at a discount.

Premium Flight, Discounted Price

Here is the most important thing to know: MVP Lab Second discs fly perfectly. The GYRO overmold technology is exactly the same, the plastics are exactly the same, and they will hit the first available tree exactly the same as a full-priced disc. If you are a player who actually throws your plastic instead of hanging it on a wall, lab seconds are the smartest way to try new molds or build a stack of backups for field work.

A Constantly Rotating Selection

Our Lab Second bin is always changing. We get giant, random assortments from the factory, which means we never know exactly what molds or plastics are going to show up. You might find a Neutron Hex, an Eclipse Envy, or a Fission Crave. Because the inventory is completely random and highly sought after, these sell out fast. If you see a mold you love in stock, do not wait!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Axiom and Streamline discs included in MVP Lab Seconds?

Yes! Since MVP manufactures Axiom and Streamline, you will frequently find molds like the Crave, Proxy, or Pilot mixed into our Lab Second inventory. They all get the same Lab Second stamp.

Do Lab Seconds have flight numbers on them?

Usually, no. Because they receive the generic Lab Second stamp instead of their stock art, the flight numbers are rarely printed on the disc. However, the mold name is still embossed on the underside of the GYRO rim so you always know what you are throwing.
