Never overshoot the basket again with the Elevation Groundhog (1/1/0/2)! This highly specialized, ultra-low-glide approach disc features an innovative "anti-gyro" design that intentionally sheds forward momentum to drop straight out of the sky. Paired with Elevation's premium, impact-absorbing rubber blends, the Groundhog is built to aggressively run the chains on touchy approaches and stick exactly where it lands with absolutely zero ground play.

Elevation Groundhog 1 | 1 | 0 | 2

Take total control of the green and eliminate overshoot once and for all! The Elevation Disc Golf Groundhog is a highly specialized, ultra-low-glide overstable approach disc intentionally engineered to fight off forward carry. If you find yourself consistently floating past the basket on delicate upshots, the Groundhog is the solution. It is designed to drop out of the sky quickly, minimizing distance errors and entirely eliminating dangerous ground play thanks to Elevation's signature rubber blends. Add the Groundhog to your bag alongside the Elevation Screech and the Elevation Gecko, and master the short game by exploring the complete Elevation Discs Collection today.

Flight Numbers & Performance

The Groundhog features incredibly unique flight numbers of 1 | 1 | 0 | 2. It is not designed to fly far; it is designed to be impossibly accurate. You can put decent force behind it, and it will predictably handle the power, resist turning over, and fall reliably to the turf without gliding past the pin.

How the Groundhog elevates your short game:

  • Aggressive Green Running: Combined with Elevation's impact-absorbing rubber materials, the Groundhog allows you to aggressively "run" the chains on touch approaches. If you miss, it collapses against the ground where it hits rather than skipping away or converting into a disastrous roller.
  • Comfortable Low Profile: Many ultra-low-glide approach tools rely on deep, "brick-like" builds. The Groundhog features a relatively shallow rim depth (1.3 cm), giving it a familiar and exceptionally clean release for both backhand touch shots and forehand scrambles.
  • Dependable Overstability: It delivers a reliable, biting finish without being entirely "dumpy" out of the hand, maintaining a predictable flight path before gravity takes over.

The "Anti-Gyro" Design

The defining physical characteristic of the Groundhog is its innovative "anti-gyro" construction. Instead of concentrating mass around the outer rim like traditional modern golf discs, Elevation intentionally added extra material to the center of the flight plate. By centralizing the weight, the disc sheds gyroscopic stability incredibly quickly during flight. Roughly two-thirds of the way through its path, the Groundhog loses its forward momentum and aggressively drops straight down toward the target.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "anti-gyro" mean on the Groundhog?

Most disc golf discs push weight to the outer rim to increase gyroscopic stability and keep the disc spinning (and gliding) longer. The Groundhog does the exact opposite. By centralizing the weight in the middle of the flight plate, the disc intentionally stops spinning faster, causing it to drop out of the air quickly instead of gliding past the basket.

Is the Groundhog comfortable for forehand approach shots?

Yes! While many 1-speed or highly overstable approach discs have deep, clunky rims, the Groundhog features a shallow 1.3 cm rim depth. This lower profile makes it incredibly comfortable in the hand, allowing for a smooth, clean release on flick and forehand scramble shots.

Why would I want a disc with only 1 Speed and 1 Glide?

A 1/1 speed/glide combo is perfect for distance control. When you are 100 feet away on a steep hill or a fast green, throwing a glidey putter risks flying 40 feet past the basket if you miss. The Groundhog allows you to run the basket aggressively, knowing that gravity and the rubber hit-and-sit material will stop the disc exactly where it lands if you miss.
