Discraft ESP Swarm 5 | 3 | 0 | 4

The Discraft ESP Swarm is the stock run of one of Discraft's most overstable midranges. It's a flat-topped, beefy 5-speed that fights through flexes and headwinds and finishes with a hard, dependable fade, so it's perfect for forehands, scramble shots and wind. ESP plastic gives it great grip and durability, and this page also holds the bendy Super FLX run. See every Swarm we stock in the Discraft Swarm Collection Hub or shop our full midrange collection.

Flight Numbers

At 5 | 3 | 0 | 4, the Swarm is one of Discraft's most overstable midranges. The 0 turn means it won't turn over even when you throw it hard or into a headwind, the 3 glide keeps it from floating past your target, and the 4 fade brings it back hard and early every time. It's 21.7 cm across and 1.6 cm tall with a flat top, a 1.3 cm rim width and a 1.2 cm rim depth, and it was PDGA approved on April 22, 2024. That makes it a big, flat midrange that sits well in the hand and snaps out clean on forehands.

Speed Glide Turn Fade
5 3 0 4

The ESP Swarm delivers:

  • Wind-Fighting Stability: It holds its line into headwinds and finishes with a hard, dependable fade.
  • Torque Resistance: It handles hard forehands and power throws without turning over.
  • Flat, Comfortable Grip: The flat top and big diameter sit well in the hand for both backhands and forehands.

It excels at:

  • Forehand approaches and scramble shots
  • Headwind upshots and short drives
  • Flex lines that need to fight back
  • Hyzer lines where you can't afford to miss right

The ESP Plastic Advantage

ESP is Discraft's premium opaque plastic. It's grippy, durable and a little softer in the hand than Z Line, so it feels great on the release and holds the Swarm's overstability for a long time. This page also has the Super FLX run, Discraft's bendier ESP Super FLX blend. It grips even better on cold mornings, bends instead of cracking on tree hits and lays down softer without big skips. Check the plastic name on each option and pick your exact disc right on this page.

How the Swarm Fits in the Discraft Lineup

  • Vs the Big Z Swarm: Same mold and flight numbers. Firm, durable Z Line style plastic with a pearly finish and big stamps. It stays overstable the longest.
  • Vs the Glo Swarm: Same mold and flight numbers. Glo Z and Color Glow plastic that charges up for night rounds.
  • Vs the CryZtal FLX Swarm: Same mold and flight numbers. Clear, gummy CryZtal FLX plastic that grips in the cold and kills ground play, including a confetti run.
  • Vs the Jawbreaker Z FLX Swarm: Same mold and flight numbers. Andrew Presnell's Tour Series run in grippy, flexible Jawbreaker Z FLX plastic.
  • Vs the Z Swirl Swarm: Same mold and flight numbers. Andrew Presnell's Tour Series run in grippy Z Swirl plastic with one-of-a-kind swirls.
  • Vs the Discraft Zone: The Zone (4 | 3 | 0 | 3) is the smaller, slower overstable approach disc. The Swarm is a 5-speed with a bigger diameter and more fade, so it handles more power and longer shots. The Zone excels in short upshots around the green.
  • Vs the Discraft Raptor: The Raptor (9 | 4 | 0 | 3) is the overstable fairway driver for when you need the same kind of finish from much farther out. Bag them together for windy rounds.
  • Vs the Innova Gator3: The Gator3 (5 | 2 | 0 | 3) is a classic overstable midrange in the same speed class. The Swarm has a flatter top, a bigger diameter and a harder fade.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Discraft ESP Swarm

How does ESP plastic feel on the Swarm?

ESP is grippy and durable with a slightly softer feel than Z Line. It gives you a confident grip in most weather, and it holds the Swarm's overstable flight for a long time. The Super FLX discs on this page are bendier and grip even better in the cold.

Is the ESP Swarm good for forehands and wind?

Yes, that's what it's built for. The 0 turn and 4 fade mean it won't turn over on hard forehands or into a headwind, and the flat top makes it easy to snap out clean.

How does the Discraft Swarm compare to the Zone?

The Zone (4 | 3 | 0 | 3) is a smaller, slower approach disc. The Swarm is a 5-speed with a bigger diameter and more fade, so it's like a faster, longer Zone that still finishes hard. Grab the Swarm for longer approaches, short drives and stronger headwinds.
